In an RTI reply, the joint director of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), Telangana, said 11 UPHCs were set up in Telangana from 2020 to 2022. The RTI was filed by YouRTI on 4 August 2022. YouRTI is an online platform where people can ask questions to various government departments. The platform files RTI on people's behalf for free to seek answers. People can remain anonymous and do not have to reveal their personal details. Of the eleven UPHCs, two are in Vikarabad, three are in Hyderabad, and six are in Rangareddy. In Vikarabad, the UPHCs are situated in Tandur and Vikarabad. In Hyderabad, they are situated in Picket, Bollaram, and Tirumalgherry. In Rangareddy, they are located in Champapet, Krishna Nagar, M.M Pahadi, Meepet, Bandlaguda, and Badangpet. Out of the eleven UPHCs, one was set up in 2020, eight in 2021, and two in 2022. "Post the Covid-19 lockdown, people wanted to know the number of PHCs and UPHCs functioning properly. They wanted to check how serious the government was in ensuring health services to the people," said an official from YouRTI. He further added that the closure of some of the PHCs and UPHCs is another problem that they need to look into. "Also, some of the health centers especially in bastis are not functioning properly," he added.
